What is ignition switch position 2 supposed to do? I am just completing my rebuild and position 1 ( links +ve 12v to pretty much all and seems to be the running position. I.e +12v to all circuits (lights, indicators ... Just a bit confused about position 2 that seems to provided+12v to a brown wire but unsure what this position is supposed to do Ignition lock cylinder stuck in on position. Unable to start vehicle or shut off ignition. Had to disconnect battery to prevent drain. The plastic slide that activates the ignition switch broke while the ignition was in the "on" position, and the steering wheel lock does not work. See all problems of the 1997 Ford F-150 .

May 03, 2012 · I will assume that the Ignition switch has no power to it. (easily confirmed with a 12 v bulb tester) and the gauges do not move when the switch is turned on/off.. The typical arrangement is for the ignition switch power to come from the battery cable to the starter and than go to a circuit breaker on top of the engine .
